The basic system consists of one unit only - a transceiver with integral antenna. EXPLORER™ 500 adds high-speed data transmission to phone and fax capabilities via satellite. Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) is a mobile satellite service that offers high-speed data (up to 432 kbps) and voice telephony. The service is initially available throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In 2006, coverage will be extended to include the Americas – providing broadband to you wherever you find yourself on the planet

Thrane's smallest BGAN terminal is so lightweight many customers bring two. At just over 1 kg it will always fit in your luggage. It's easy to set-up, easy to use, and it’s constructed to last. Apart from that, it is encouraging to know that your BGAN terminal is from T & T who developed the BGAN earth stations. Thrane & Thrane is also the leading supplier of terminals for the Inmarsat network.

Particularly useful in remote areas outside terrestrial or cellular coverage, this mobile terminal is an ideal link to the world wherever you are. Setting up your EXPLORER™ 500 is quick and easy. Just plug in a phone, fax, laptop or PDA, or use the Bluetooth interface, point the antenna towards the BGAN satellite - and you are online. If you happen to be sheltered, the optional external antenna can be erected in a convenient location outside.

Thrane & Thrane is world leader in terminals and land earth stations based on the Inmarsat satellite services. Around 300,000 Inmarsat terminals have been sold worldwide. Approximately 100,000 of these have been delivered by Thrane & Thrane.

We’ve all got used to broadband in heavily populated areas. Now you can get it wherever you go. Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) is a new mobile satellite service that offers highspeed data as well as voice telephony. The service is initially available throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. In 2006, coverage is extended to include the Americas. Complete global coverage is expected at a later date.

Imagine being at the outskirts of Baku. It’s hot. Nothing seems to be working. But the job must be done. Communicating with the head office, especially, used to be a drag. Not any more. With Thrane & Thrane EXPLORER™ 500 your broadband connection is right there in the bag beside you. Just point the antenna and you are all set. The status report, CAD drawing or high resolution photo is quickly sent off.

In 72 % of the world BGAN is the better form of communication. Period. It offers faster data transfer than 3G mobile telephony – up to 492 kbps is comparable to most fixed line broadband connections which are only available in very limited areas of the world. Yet BGANs coverage far outperforms even the leading cellular networks. And to top that BGAN airtime will often be cheaper than comparable cellular roaming prices. Simply put: BGAN offers a lot more. Sometimes even for less.

The EXPLORER™ 500 is flexibility, ease of use and reliability in one lightweight package: • Simultaneous voice and data communication • High-speed data transfer up to 464 kbps • Seamless global coverage • Support for streaming video or audio at up to 128 kbps • Flexible connections with Ethernet, USB and Bluetooth • Easy system setup and operation • Lightweight, splash and dust proof • Robust, reliable and durable

Your boss sits in Frankfurt and the attending government officials just travelled to Addis Abbeba. Your video conference no longer lags, skips or gets disconnected. Large file transfer If you’re working with graphics, databases or other heavy data volumes, you know the importance of a fast network. You’ll definitely appreciate BGAN. Send and receive photos, video, audio, multimedia files. Press photo: 3.2 Mb. Sent in less than 2 minutes. Interactive product demo: 8.9 Mb. Downloaded for sales presentation in 5-6 minutes. Not even time enough to rehearse your pitch. E-mail – More and more often, the crucial part of an e-mail is contained in an attachment. With EXPLORER™ 500 reading e-mail and fetching attachments is swift and easy. Full internet experience – The World Wide Web first took off when broadband became widespread.
