All three RoadMates 3000T, 3050T, 6000T feature live traffic information, along with music playback and "SmartDetour" to skip over freeway traffic and the like. You can store maps, photos, and music in the integrated SD card slot, and the 3.5-inch LCD should give a decent view of the road. The 6000T (pictured) headlines the series with hands-free calling integration with your Bluetooth phone, along with a text-to-speech "SayWhere" function that speaks the name of the upcoming street you're supposed to turn on.
The Magellan RoadMate 1200 Series features a compact-sized 3.5-inch anti-glare touch screen and mirrors the features of the Magellan RoadMate 1400 series, within an even smaller pocket-sized form factor.
So Magellan is throwing down an entry into the crazy world of multimedia GPS systems the Magellan RoadMate 800 does all that fancy GPS stuff, including automatic rerouting (if you miss a turn or decide to grab a Slurpee before heading along the recommended path), 6 million points of interest, and maps for the US, Canada, and 27 "unlockable" European countries (you heard that right, they're on there, but you'll need to pay a fee to use them).
'Turn It On and Go' is the promise on the box of the Magellan RoadMate 700, and it lives up to that user-friendly pledge," said Automobile Magazine's Michael Austin. "Maps of the whole United States are pre-loaded, so there's no tricky computer downloads. Inputs can be made using the arrow buttons or the color touchscreen. Route planning is so easy. You hardly need the built-in tutorial. The Magellan RoadMate is the easiest portable navigation system I've ever used, and it's even better than most OEM systems."
