King of the crowd - the Hughes 9201 is the fastest of the new ultra-light, high-speed satellite terminals from Inmarsat zoom in BGAN 9201 Inmarsat Terminal

Offering the highest bandwidth in the BGAN range, the ruggedized HNS 9201 is ideal for small teams or individuals with high data requirements, such as the broadcast media. It weighs 2.2kg (4.85lbs) and measures 345 x 275 x 50mm.

Over a standard IP connection, it connects at up to 492kbps, while guaranteed data rates range from 32kbps to 256kbps for both send and receive. The HNS 9201 is the only terminal in the range to feature both a dedicated 64kbps ISDN data channel and connection via WiFi, in addition to USB and Ethernet. Voice is delivered via an ISDN handset.

The rugged design of the Hughes 9201 allows the terminal to be installed outside in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time. Multiple user support allows your entire team to share a single Hughes 9201 simultaneously, providing the site with a broadband local area network. The terminal’s small size and weight allows you to easily move it from site to site and be connected again within minutes. When you’re at a remote site, sending and receiving the information you need is critical. The Inmarsat BGAN service, together with the Hughes 9201, offers a true alternative network that enables corporate teams to communicate their critical information anytime, anywhere.

Regional BGAN is based on Internet Protocol (IP) and GPRS technology. The notebook-sized Satellite IP Modem connects to a standard personal computer (PC) using the plug and play features available with most Microsoft Windows operating systems. Users share a 144kbit/s channel over the satellite, giving them more than double the transfer speed of current terrestrial GPRS mobile networks. And, with built in BluetoothTM wireless technology, the Regional BGAN Satellite IP Modem is truly a solution without wires.

Because the service is based on IP packet technology, users only pay for the amount of data they send and receive, and not for the amount of time spent online. This enables them to stay "always connected" to the Internet.

The HUGHES® 9201 Broadband Satellite IP Terminal and WLAN Access Point is your gateway to global communications. The Hughes 9201 allows you to simultaneously send and receive IP packet and circuit switched data via USB, Ethernet, ISDN and WLAN interfaces over the Inmarsat BGAN satellite network. Main features are:

Inmarsat's satellite technology provides a fast, efficient connection, allowing you to download 50K files, e-mail or attachments in about 10 seconds.

Advanced spot-beam technology allows Inmarsat to maintain a footprint stretching across 99 countries from Western Europe and the northern half of Africa, across central and Eastern Europe, the southern CIS countries, to the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent.

The maximum bandwidth within each spot-beam is 144kbit/s. But because Regional BGAN is a packet data network, the average bandwidth available is shared among several connected users if they transmit data at the same time.

The Regional BGAN system allocates this capacity where needed - invisibly to the end-user. Based on Inmarsat's forecast of traffic and capacity, over a three-minute period we estimate users will consistently experience transfer rates equivalent to more than double those offered by current terrestrial GPRS services.
